Climate change: A topic that continues to draw tremendous controversy. And yet, we have been measuring temperature around the world for well over a century using thousands of weather stations. Can we not settle this once and for all by digging into the raw measurements? Alex Bryan, a climatologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, will display the complete, unfiltered data record from New England’s 2,000+ weather station database, describe the well-understood, fundamental physics behind the observed trends, and highlight what we can (and cannot) glean from computer model predictions of future climate.
